A valiant effort--It's just not the same without the disturbing little Munchkins, though...

H'lo Sophmom. You flew by and dropped a gleaning of wisdom, and then swept it away in your departure. Forgive me. It says so much. I posted it. It is too precious of an offering. Thank you.

Sophmom, we're here and we're in love with this city. This is the first time that I have ever been here. While there is plenty of devastation, the likes of which I have never seen, there is plenty about this city that is beautiful and alive. It starts with the people. Everyone that we have met, everywhere that we have gone, have fallen all over themselves to be helpful. I can't get over how warm and wonderful everyone has been. The people here have such a spirit about them. In the midst of rebuilding from a disaster, they still celebrate everything on a grande scale! Upon our arrival we were stricken with grief at the destruction and the suffering that it has undoubtedly caused. But as we began to get rooted into our little neighborhood, we began to discover the beauty of the city. We were lucky enough to have found a wonderful place to rent in Mid-City a block or two from St. John's Bayou and City Park. Our landlords are wonderful people who go way beyond the call of duty to be helpful and to help us explore all that the city has to offer. Upon coming here, we were afraid that we had missed our chance to experience New Orleans...that the history may have been washed away and the people who give it diversity and texture may have all gone. We were relieved to see that such a wealth of historic buildings and homes have been preserved. As suddenly as we have fallen in love with New Orleans, it is easy to understand how heartbreaking it must be for those who have been unable to return to their homes here.
I see that you are coming to town around the 31st. Maybe we can meet!

For some reason I can't post on your other blog.

We have been uptown, but we haven't been to the places that you suggested yet. I did get to see some of the St. Patricks Day Parade!

Hollie, I'm not sure why you can't comment on my other blog. I would love to know what you're seeing, where you're running into trouble, because others may be having some of the same problems. B-C has just been through an upgrade, including some difficulties. Feel free to email me at soph_mom@yahoo.com.

Anyway, I'm so pleased to hear you're enjoying NOLA! I knew you would. I'm planning on coming down next weekend. :)
